How did you get into disc golf and how long have you been playing?
My uncle showed me Disc as he played since he was in high school. I have been playing for about 4 years but this is the first year that I’m playing competitively.
What is your dominant hand?
Right
Are you Backhand or forehand dominate?
I can throw both well but my backhand is my more dominant way of throwing.
What was the first disc you threw and where is it now?
My first disc was a champion banshee and it’s either still in the woods or in someone else’s bag by now.
You’re on the first hole at your local course, what disc do you reach for?
My gateway wizard to give me a nice straight flight.
What is your favourite course and why?
Golden Gate Park the course itself was so beautiful and it came with it’s one challenges and obstacles that I haven’t seen before.
Your disc golf bag catches on fire. You can only save 3 discs, What are those discs and why?
My Anthon destroyer, 2016 Sexton firebird, and obviously my voodoo I could never lose that.
What is your favourite disc and why?
My favorite Disc is my first ever ace disc which is a star destroyer that thing has been hanging on my wall ever since.
What is your favourite throw to play during a round of disc golf?
A max distance shot, I love being able to just unload on a drive especially to show how much farther I can throw than everyone else it makes me feel good.
Are you part of a league, if so what is your handicap?
I am not currently apart of a league.
How many times a week do you get to play or do field work?
I play at least twice a week if not more and try and get out in a field once a week. Along with putting everyday if possible.
The discs that you regularly bag are they all one manufacturer or a mix bag?
I throw a mix bag.
Gateway: voodoos and a wizard
Innova: vrocs, rat, destroyer, tern, firebird
Discmania: DDX
Millennium: JLS
Do you have any superstitions or quirks when on the course. Such as like flipping your disc 3 or special hat?
Before I drive I always give my disc a few Simon Lizotte spins just to give some extra distance.
What do you love about disc golf?
The community 100 percent. No matter if I’m on the course or online people always complimenting each other and teaching each other. It’s one thing that you can’t get in any other sport and I love that so much.
What part of disc golf do you find the most challenging?
The mental side. It’s so easy to get in your own head and that can throw off everything.
What has been your greatest achievement to date in disc golf?
My first tournament win.
If you could change anything about disc golf what would it be?
The haters. It may seem weird but there’s always those people who aren’t hating on others for no reason just let everyone play the game because having fun is really the only goal.
If given the chance how would you grow the sport of disc golf?
Making it an official sport in high schools. If it was a sport more accessible for people who have no clue what is there would be more players.
If you could play any course in the world, what would that course be and who are the other three players on your card?
This is a tough one. I would have to say Winthrop gold I watch this course all the time on coverages and always think about playing it.
My card mates would have to be Paul McBeth and my two uncles we love exploring different courses so I couldn’t leave them out on this.
What’s your embarrassing disc golf story?
I was keeping score for the group in a tournament and I had to borrow someone’s pencil and then after the third hole I lost it.
Someone else then had to give me one and in two more holes I lost that pencil. So then I had to run all the way to the card in front of us to get a pencil and it was just not a good experience.
What advice would you give to a new player starting out?
Don’t go straight for high speeds. I know it may seem lame but practice with putters and mids first and then step up.
